I was reading about supports for the tissue and remember that I bought some vellum several years ago at surplus. It's denril multi-media vellum 8 1/2 x 11 inches and is water proof, stays flat, anti-static and is very strong. For some reason I bought 6 100 sheet packages, that's 600 sheets of it. As I remember I printed some drawings for blueprints with my Epson 1520 13x19 inch printer.

Has anyone used this material for tissue support? Anyone use a 1520 to make digital negatives?

Thanks,
Curt

I tried some 3mil Denril but found it too thin for convenient use. Since you've got 600 sheets, give it a try and see what you think.

Re Epson 1520: do yourself a favor and retire this printer. It's 10 year old technology- only 4 colors,
a max resolution of 1440, Centronics interface only (no USB or Firewire), and an obsolete inkset. If you are going to
the considerable trouble to learn making digital negatives, give yourself the advantage of the latest technology and
a printer that will be supported.

I've been using this stuff and find it convenient for my work. The thinner stock is easier for me to handle in the trays for some reason. I guess it is just the way I started and I stuck with it. I even have some big sheets for my 8x20 images.

I use 3 mil vellum (Borden and Riley denril multi-media vellum drafting film) for 18x22 tissues, works great. You might want to up the sugar slightly using it because this stuff doesn't tame the natural tissue curl very well. I store the dried tissues in big sketch pads to help protect and keep them flat.
